Don’t multitask

It’s easy to multitask on video calls but research by the Harvard Business School has shown that multitasking can reduce your productivity by 40%. Instead focus on one task at a time - being mindful allows you to stay more present at meetings, be more involved and calm the mind.

If We Are Stressed Then Exercise Right? NAH!

You finish work. - you have raised cortisol levels so exercise. You need to destress - jump to the treadmill/exercise/running etc. No way!

Research has shown that exercise in the evening after work actually raises your cortisol levels higher. Furthermore, too much exercise causes chronic stress. The answer isn’t to follow the crowd but rather be strategic.

Rather than doing high-intense exercise (HIIT) focus on doing low-intensity exercise buffers the build-up of cortisol. Some examples:

Walking at a casual pace.
Light jogging.
Swimming laps.
Using an elliptical machine.
Slowly lifting weights

With Covid-19, it has naturally worsened sedentary jobs which has increased the stress that has accumulated. As discussed, going to the gym after work for high-intensity exercise raises cortisol levels even further. Instead, do low- to moderate-intensity exercise each morning and try to move more throughout the day, for example, take short walks. Whilst we are all working (even from home or work) get up and move every thirty minutes to an hour, get up and move for> around five minutes or so.

Next time you want to exercise, try this and feel the difference!
